The season has been a mixed bag so far for Chelsea punters at the Tavern.

With four wins out of seven, things have undoubtedly started better than last year (with the Blues hovering around the relegation zone this time last year), but the Stamford Bridge faithful will have been hoping for better.

New manager Antonio Conte has certainly done a good job instilling his never-say-die spirit into his new charges, with a number of points ground out by keeping the tempo up until the final whistle.

Chelsea also advanced to the next round of the EFL Cup with an extra-time victory over Leicester City.

Players like Diego Costa have enjoyed a renaissance in form this year, with the Spaniard putting a patchy 2015/16 campaign behind him to emerge as the league’s current top scorer with six goals. However, not everyone is living up to these standards.

Here are THREE players who are letting the Blues down this season……

BRANISLAV IVANOVIC

For a club who were previously renowned for their solid defence and ability to grind out results, the Chelsea backline has been shocking this season.

Branislav Ivanovic has been the target of most of the Chelsea fans at the Tavern and has been a liability at times.

Conte seems to be running out of patience with the Serbian as well, having dropped him against Hull after back-to-back league defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal.

The result? A clean sheet.

GARY CAHILL

A man who came in for criticism in the Tavern a number of times, Gary Cahill doesn’t seem to have recovered from the dent last season’s dismal run has put in his confidence.

John Terry’s absence through injury seems to have made him regress even more, with the England international looking panicky and hesitant whenever the play comes near.

When David Luiz is looking the more assured of your defenders, you know you’ve got a problem.

EDEN HAZARD

This may seem a controversial inclusion as the Belgian was sparkling in the first few games this year.

After a season to forget in 2015/16, Hazard looked back to his best with two goals in three games and a series of dazzling performances.

The 2014/15 Player of the Year has nothing to show in the last four games however, and was particularly absent against Liverpool and Arsenal.

His only attacking returns in open play this season came at home to Burnley – his goal in the season opener against West Ham came from the spot – and you start to question the contribution of the man who is meant to be Chelsea’s chief creative outlet.
