These 3 players could follow Raheem Sterling to Arsenal in January

Gunners fans here in the Tavern are becoming increasingly interested in recent reports linking one of the league leaders’ stars with a move to North London.

Arsenal fans will agree that they won’t need to be told that they’ve been performing well under their expected standards so far this campaign. Having played a part in 11 Premier League games so far this season, the consistency has just completely diminished with them struggling to string a run of successful results together.

After the disappointments of missing out on a Champions League spot in the last, they don’t appear to have learnt from their mistakes with a top 4 finish looking like a long shot once again.

Surely many Arsenal fans will agree that Thursday night football isn’t the best of propositions?

Having made the sluggish start to proceedings it’s reignited the trend of Arsenal fans calling for Arsene Wenger’s head, with the #WengerOUT campaign coming back into fashion. For many of our punters here in the Tavern, this has been a rather enjoyable experience, seeking more hilarious responses on the hugely followed Arsenal Fan TV.

Who would’ve thought that a club in despair could provide so much entertainment for the footballing world?

But things could be about to get a whole lot better for the North London based side with a rather bizarre link coming into the frame, one that suggests Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling could face a possible switch to the Emirates, as part of a switch that could see Alexis Sanchez making the move over to the Etihad.

So, with January approaching, here’s a look at THREE players who could quite possibly follow Sterling to the English capital…

Marouane Fellaini

The Belgian international was one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League during his days with Merseyside club Everton. However, since then, things have begun to go dramatically south for the tall midfielder, as he struggles to secure any meaningful game time at his current club Manchester United.

It’s fair to say that the aerial phenomenon has had his fair share of critics during his time at United, from flailing elbows to visions of seeing red, the aggressive midfielder hasn’t always had the brightest of days. But with glimpses of brilliance in games this season, nobody in the right frame of mind can argue with the potential and danger that this man can pose against any given team on his day.

Recently, reports in The Mirror have suggested that Arsene Wenger would love to recruit Marouane Fellaini in what would become a free transfer.

Frustrating news for the Manchester club, but Punters here in the Tavern are fond of many United fans who will be rather pleased by the news. With his contract set to run out in the summer, the Belgian has been found to be playing hardball as United continue to attempt to pen down a new deal for the man.

So for a player that can deliver a devastating blow in his finest moments, it’s yet to be seen as to whether Wenger and his staff will take a risk with the midfielder.

Nabil Fekir

The attacking maestro has used the opening 11 games of the season to cement his place as one of Europe’s up and coming stars, at the young age of 24 he’s still blessed with many promising years of growth to develop with all the potential that he has at his disposal.

Having featured in 11 games for his current side Olympique Lyonnais in the French Ligue 1, he’s managed to pull off a healthy return of 11 goals in what has the makings to be a breakthrough season for the Frenchman.

When you start a season in the fashion that the Lyon midfielder has managed to, the attraction from Europe’s elite will become endless.

Arsenal are the latest team to be linked with the services of the young attacker as they divert their attention from Thomas Lemar to countryman Nabil Fekir, with the latter enduring arguably the better of seasons out of the two.

As they cement their interest in one of Europe’s most promising young talents, Wenger and his scouts will have already witnessed a taste of exactly what he can do after he scored home and away against Everton in the Europa League.

Quincy Promes

The Dutch winger plays his football in the Russian League for Champions League outfit Spartak Moscow.

Quincy prefers to operate on the right wing but has the ability to play anywhere across the front three and one thing can be guaranteed. Indeed, no matter what position he’s been utilized in this season, there is no lack of devastation.

Having played 20 games in all competitions including the coveted Champions League, he’s managed a healthy return of 12 goals and 7 assists in what has turned out to be pivotal in catching the eye of many European clubs.

With the most commonly reported team to be interested in the Dutchman being fellow Premier League giants Liverpool, their manager Jurgen Klopp has been keeping a close eye on the progress of the 25-year-old as they prepare a possible swoop.

So with the possible departure of the underperforming Alexis Sanchez, it looks as if Quincy Promes may just be the answer to Arsenal fans prayers.

So Arsenal fans, thoughts?
