Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are not having the best of times in the Premier League recently. Indeed, while things haven’t been great for a few years now, the manner in which this season has gone downhill has seriously annoyed our resident Gooners.

After recently losing three matches in a week across three competitions, the pressure is mounting on Arsene Wenger – although the Europa League displays are giving a glimmer of hope of silverware this year. Our Gunner fans in the bar are certainly not happy with this season and their current league position, but more importantly their displays on the pitch, with many of their stars looking like they’ve given up at times.

As always, the social media channel Arsenal Fan TV has been blowing up post matches, and many of the regulars have been sharing the barman’s video to watch it all unfold. However, a few decent signings in the summer could finally transform this team of average achievers in recent years, into genuine title contenders next season.

It may look a long way away right at this moment in time, but our landlord feels that after the two fantastic signings in the January window, a further THREE in key areas could be the making of this Arsenal side.

With that in mind, here are his three players to turn around fortunes at the Emirates and refresh the whole outlook in north London…

Jan Oblak

Arsenal need a strong goalkeeper in between the sticks to cement his place for many years to come. With Petr Cech going into his mid-30’s and showing signs of his age catching up with him in recent months, the Gunners have to start to look to replace him with a younger version.

Jan Oblak is Atletico Madrid’s number one and is one of the best ‘keepers in La Liga, if not the whole of Europe. The Slovenian stands at well over six foot and is still only 25 and, with many years to offer, he could be a Gunner regular for many, many years.

Jonny Evans

Having long been linked with a move to the Emirates, Evans could have been the difference maker to the Arsenal spine which is in much need of work if they are to challenge for the title. Arsenal have always had a glut of creative talent in the centre of the park, but at the back is the part of the team that always lets them down.

Wenger, by not dealing with the defensive side of things over the years may have shot himself in the foot, and when a player with Evans’ quality comes along, especially with West Brom’s projected relegation, it would be a silly move not to snap the chance up.

Fabinho

Fabinho is a 24-year-old defensive midfielder who loves nothing better than to get in amongst it in the centre of the park, something that Arsenal have desperately needed for a long time now. A strong holding midfielder could be a fixture in the team for many years to come, and none come better than the Monaco man at present.

He also has an eye for goal, picking up a handful of strikes so far this season, so would add a lot to their current mismatched midfield. Indeed, he could be the perfect midfield lynchpin that the Gunners and the fans have been looking for at long, long last.
