The West Bromwich Albion fans at the Football Transfer Tavern are relatively happy with how their team are performing so far this season.

However they feel that the way they are portrayed underestimates them and that their players are underrated because of the style of play that they have adopted under Tony Pulis.

They have adopted a more aggressive style since the Welsh manager’s arrival and it has brought results alongside a reputation that they may not really want.

However, they do have some very good players, both in defence and going forward and some forget just how good they are individually.

Salomon Rondon

People started to notice Rondon a bit after his goal on the opening day of the season, however the Venezuelan’s importance for West Brom still isn’t fully appreciated.

He leads the line very well, often single handedly in a lone striker role and always manages to cause problems for the opposing defence.

He is also a good finisher, both with his feet and his head, which is important because he doesn’t always get many chances to score.

Chris Brunt

He is currently out injured, but when he plays Chris Brunt is a very important player for West Brom.

Tony Pulis has played him at left back since he came to the Hawthorns and the Northern Irishman has adapted well.

He is a very reliable player and that, as well as his leadership skills, are why he is the club captain.

He also has brilliant delivery, especially from set pieces and with players like Gareth McAuley and Salomon Rondon to aim at, his set pieces can be deadly.

Ben Foster

He may have had his injury troubles, but Ben Foster is a great goalkeeper and is a vital part of the West Brom backline that has performed so well since Pulis has come in.

He is recognised as a key player for West Brom, however it is surprising that he wasn’t in Sam Allaryce’s England squad when both Jack Butland and Fraser Forster were injured, especially as the man who was picked, Alex McCarthy, hasn’t been the first choice goalkeeper at club level since he left Reading in 2014.
