These 3 West Ham United players are out of their depth – Agreed?

It was a very interesting summer for the West Ham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern…

Following a move to the London Stadium, it has been obvious to the West Ham faithful in attendance over the last few weeks that European football is the goal for Slaven Bilic’s men.

Unfortunately for the West Ham boss however; he wasn’t banking on such an early European exit – especially given his transfer business over the summer.

It was clear, from our landlord’s perspective, that Bilic was preparing for a season of competition on four fronts – and that will no longer be the case this season.

That being said, West Ham have a lot of talent in their squad – but their issue is that there is simply too much of it.

The recruitment of a number of top names has brought the quality of football expected from the West Ham players to another level – and some players will not be able to make the jump.

With that said, these 3 West Ham player are out of their depth – Agreed?

Raphael Spiegel

Third choice keepers are an essential part of any top level Premier League side.

Whilst they may not get much game time each season, it is essential that a manager can trust their third choice when push comes to shove – and our landlord simply doesn’t think that is the case with Raphael Spiegel.

Judging by his performances in a number of pre-season fixtures and during spells with West Ham’s developmental sides – he simply does not look up to par.

This has more to do with West Ham’s quick rise to the top over anything else, but at this point: Spiegel is simply out of his depth at West Ham United.

Doneil Henry

Donnie Henry has never looked good enough to be a Hammer. The West Ham faithful in the Tavern still don’t know why he was signed…

He joined the club when Sam Allardyce was in charge, coming from Toronto – and to be honest he was a strange signing even at the time.

Now a 24-year-old, Henry is no longer potential – he is a fully developed footballer who is simply not good enough for the Premier League.

Harsh words, but the West Ham fans in the Tavern are unanimous.

 Jonathan Calleri

This has divided everyone here in the Football Transfer Tavern, but our landlord is sticking by his guns.

Admittedly, Jonathan Calleri only recently joined West Ham following a spell in Argentina – but from what we’ve seen so far; he just isn’t good enough.

Everyone in the Tavern saw the shocking miss he produced against Bournemouth on the opening day of the season; a feat that he would then repeat in the Europa League clash against Astra.

He certainly needs time, but given that the deal is a one-year-loan – Bilic simply doesn’t have the time.

He is out of his depth.
