Our Hammers fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that they’ve finally turned a corner after a very slow start to the season.
Picking up four points in the past two games compared to the three losses they endured in the opening matches of the season is proving how much they missed Andy Carroll.
Since his return, the Irons have only lost one game, to Tottenham Hotspur, showing just what they’re missing. Wisely strengthening in every area during the transfer window, West Ham United will be looking at that Premier league experience to start hosting them up the table as they currently lie just outside the relegation zone.
Bilic is a hard man to please and is always demanding more from his claret and blue-clad team, with a plethora of young talent within the squad mixed with some older, more experienced players, they seem to have a great blend and in time this can gel together.
Our Landlord and some of the regulars were talking about the youngsters that have gone out on loan and the few under-23’s that really need to impress Bilic this season to take their careers on the path that many believed it should be going.
These three West Ham Players will be looking to make good on their future if and when given the chance.
Jose Fonte
The Portuguese central defender really is showing his age. While he’s never truly relied on pace, the former Southampton skipper is seriously struggling to replicate the sort of form that made him a legend down on the south coast.
Needs to up his game, having seen it bizarrely drop since winning Euro 2016.
Joe Hart
Seems a strange inclusion, having only joined on loan this summer, though Joe Hart seriously needs to rediscover his very best form.
Since being axed by Pep Guardiola, the England international has watched his game drop lower and lower. If he’s to prove the Spaniard wrong and stay in the Premier League, Hart should sort himself out.
Sam Byram
Weirdly enough, Sam Byram has never really seemed to enjoy Slaven Bilic’s full trust. The former Leeds United man seems a perfect fit for the right wing-back role, though an ageing Pablo Zabaleta gets the nod over him.
Clearly a talent, the 22-year-old might not have long left to prove his manager wrong.
