These 5 former Brendan Rodgers players could join him at Celtic this summer

Brendan Rodgers is the man trusted to bring the good times to Parkhead this season, following the club’s decision to appoint him as the club’s manager.

Tonight sees the Northern Irishman make his competitive bow for for the Scottish champions with their Champions League qualifier against Gibraltan side Lincoln Red Imps.

Its a tie the club should win but you can be sure that their opponents will be well up for the encounter with one of Europe’s best known teams.

Rodgers still has work to do on his squad to be ready for the league campaign which kicks of on 6th August and many have been linked with a move to Glasgow this summer.

So our landlord here in The Tavern has been going through a list of Rodgers former players and come up with five names who the Northern Irishman has previously managed, who could join him at Parkhead for next season.

Kolo Toure

The Ivory Coast international is no stranger to Rodgers and played a major role during the campaign, in which Liverpool finished runners up to Manchester City in the Premier League.

The defender is currently a free agent after being released by Liverpool at the end of last season and has been linked with a move to Parkhead.

Joe Allen

The Welsh international had a fine EURO 2016 campaign with Wales helping his side to the semi-final stage of the tournament.

He is thought to be available for transfer this summer being made surplus to requirements by Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, and a bid of £14 million could secure his services for Rodgers.

Scott Sinclair

The winger could be another target for Brendan Rodgers this summer following Aston Villa’s relegation to the Championship.

Sinclair played the best football of his career under Rodgers which earnt him a big money move to Manchester City, but has failed to hit the heights expected of him, maybe a reunion with Rodgers could be what he needs to revitalise his career.

Rickie Lambert

Lambert

The England international is another who could join Rodgers at Parkhead.

The Northern Irishman signed the striker from Southampton during his spell as Liverpool manager after the strikers knack of scoring attracted him to make a move.

The move never came off and he was moved on to West Brom last summer, another move that has not worked out for Lambert who is looking for a move away and a move to link up with Rodgers once more could see the striker kick start his career.

Michel Vorm

Vorm

The Dutch goalkeeper could be another who joins Rodgers at Celtic.

The 32 year old enhanced his reputation as one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers during his time at Swansea and was an important part of the Swansea team that won the English League Cup.

Since then he has moved to Spurs and failed to get regular starts due to the form of number one Hugo Lloris, at the stage of his career where he wants to be starting games and would probably jump at the chance of joining his former boss at Parkhead.
