Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Southampton to Wembley last night, a game which ushered in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s era as manager of the south coast outfit, and they made it an evening to forget for the Austrian by recording a comfortable 3-1 victory.
Hasenhuttl might well be wondering what he’s getting himself into after watching Spurs dominate proceedings last night.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men, fresh from a 4-2 north London derby defeat, were far from their scintillating best but they still managed to look vastly superior to the visitors.
Any fears over a potential Southampton revival were eased early on as Christian Eriksen found Harry Kane in a glorious position and the Tottenham talisman simply couldn’t miss to give his side the lead.
It was a classic combination which the supporters have become incredibly fond of in recent years, and plenty of them took to Twitter to heap praise on the Great Dane for supplying Kane once again.
Indeed, Eriksen was not quite at the top of his game but he still managed to capture the imagination of the supporters with his incisive vision and sumptuous passing.
