With it being likely that the Black Cats will be in the Championship by the time the summer comes, they’ll need to look for a striker with second-tier experience who knows where the goal is, so why look any further than Huddersfield’s Wells?
The Bermuda international has been a consistent goalscorer in the Championship and with his style similar to Defoe’s, he could be the perfect replacement.
JORDAN HUGILL
Another reliable and realistic Championship striker that could be a great fit for the club is Preston’s leading scorer, Hugill.
The 24-year-old can’t stop scoring for the high-flying Deepdale team, so putting him into the Sunderland XI in the Championship could see him bang in even more!
