Tottenham fans are loving what they’re seeing from their side, so far this season as they are the only unbeaten side left in the Premier League after last weekend.

The Lilywhites fans really think they are genuine challengers for the title after Sunday’s game saw them convincingly beat Manchester City 2-0 at White Hart Lane.

A Dele Alli goal followed on from a City own-goal and it could have been more had Erik Lamela scored his penalty, but nevertheless it was still a class performance.

Mauricio Pochettino has to receive the plaudits for how he has evolved Spurs’ team from when he took over.

It’s a young and hungry squad now full of energy and quality and that’s why they are genuine title contenders.

It hasn’t always been that way though, as our landlord remembers, because Spurs have had some shocking players.

This in mind, then, here are the worst eleven from the last decade…

GK: Heurelho Gomes

The Brazilian could go from the sublime to the ridiculous at Spurs and it has to be because of the ridiculous mistakes that he gets in this side.

Paul Stalteri

The Canadian right back was part of the team that nearly reached the top four in the 2005/06 season, before narrowly missing out.

He was, however, not a key part of that side in terms of key performances, and saw his career go down hill after that.

Calum Davenport

Davenport was signed as a youngster with the hope he could go on to be Spurs’ next great defender after Ledley King.

He could not, however, reach those heights and was soon looking for playing time elsewhere.

Sebastien Bassong

Bassong just wasn’t good enough for Spurs, it’s as simple as that.

He spent a fair amount of time at the Lane frustrating the life out of the crowd before moving on, and although it sounds harsh, they were pleased to see the back of him.

Gilberto

From his debut on Gilberto was dreadful at left-back. Very rarely in position, very rarely timing a challenge, he didn’t tick many boxes you’d look for from a defensive minded player.

He didn’t last very long at the club either and was soon gone.

David Bentley

Bentley did a couple of impressive things for Spurs but he largely underwhelmed given he himself has since admitted he doesn’t really like football.

A memorable goal against Arsenal will not be forgotten by Spurs fans but on the whole it was a case of what might have been.

Kevin-Prince Boateng

Boateng did go on to have a good career after leaving London but you wouldn’t have thought he would after his performances at Spurs.

He made very little impact whilst at White Hart Lane and only really started to perform once he’d moved on. Another missed opportunity.

Paulinho

The Brazilian started life at Spurs fairly decently but he soon seemed to lose complete interest in trying to compete as the highest levels of the game.

He managed to get himself a lucrative move to China and you feel that’s all he really wanted from the game.

Mido

Mido very rarely looked fit in the Premier League and that showed in his many lethargic performances. T

he Egyptian talked a good game to the extend it annoyed Spurs fans even more when he couldn’t follow it up on the pitch.

A really frustrating footballer.

Louis Saha

Saha came to Spurs towards the end of his career but he’d shown in recent times he still had the ability to play in the Premier League.

For whatever reason, though, it didn’t work out and the Frenchman soon moved to pastures new leaving Spurs thinking of what could have been once more.

Roberto Soldado

Soldado was one of the most prolific strikers in European football at the time of signing for Spurs, so their fans must have been feeling good that they’d got him.

He just couldn’t adapt to football in this country, though, and despite always putting a shift in things just didn’t work out for the Spaniard.
