The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking ahead to their Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday…
The resident Reds fans propping up the bar in the Tavern are hoping their side can break into the top four this weekend with a fifth victory in six matches against Brighton at the AMEX Stadium. Jurgen Klopp’s men continued their excellent run of form at the bet365 Stadium on Wednesday night with a commanding 3-0 victory over Stoke City. And their clean sheet was their third in the last five matches, which perhaps is an indication that the club have turned a corner in recent weeks.
However, the Merseysiders’ defensive improvement could be jeopardised by the absence of Joel Matip, who has been ruled out of Saturday’s clash on the South Coast due to injury.
Ahead of their upcoming fixture, the Liverpool manager confirmed in a press-conference earlier today that Matip will be sidelined due to a muscle problem, as relayed by the club’s official Twitter handle.

The Cameroon international has played 90 minutes in 13 out of Liverpool’s 14 league matches this campaign, but that has not stopped the Liverpool supporters complaining about Matip’s injury record, and showing concern ahead of this weekend’s clash.
And the Liverpool supporters also seem to be hoping that Klopp can bring in new reinforcements in the January window to finally resolve their apparent defensive crisis.
