Watford defender Craig Cathcart has signed a new four-year deal, the club have confirmed.
The Watford fans here in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with this news, and think his no-nonsense attitude makes him a top defender to have in the squad.
Last season Cathcart was restricted to just 15 league games in a season hampered by injury.
However the Hornets have identified the Northern Ireland international as their immediate future whilst issuing a hands off to rival clubs.
The 28-year-old, who began his career at Manchester United, joined Watford from Blackpool in 2014.
Cathcart played his part in Watford’s promotion to the Premier League, but was held back for much of last season.
The Northern Irishman is a seasoned international having featured 32 times for his country.
Watford have replaced Walter Mazzarri with former Hull boss Marco Silva during the summer, and the new boss has chosen to tie down Cathcart as quickly as possible.
Watford fans have taken to Twitter to share their delight in the defender penning a new deal…
