Nobody in the Football Transfer Tavern has been particularly impressed with Chelsea or Man Utd thus far…

Mourinho’s Red Devils are certainly playing slightly more attractive football than last season under Louis Van Gaal – but they are currently no better off than they were last season.

A big win against a Chelsea side who have been a bit hit and miss themselves this season could prove vital in United’s season.

Many thought these two with their new managers in charge would be genuine title contenders and although it is still early doors – here at the Tavern we feel they may be a little off the pace come May 2017.

With that being said the Red Devils must look for a vital win against Chelsea at the Bridge this Saturday and with this starting XI we feel they’ll do just that.

 GK: David De Gea

In Manchester United’s last Premier League game he was in inspirational form to keep Liverpool at bay in his sides 0-0 draw at Anfield on Monday night.

With no real challenge De Gea will forever be the United no.1 as long as he is at the club.

 RB: Antonio Valencia

The make-shift right-back has become quite the solid defender after being pushed further back from his regular right midfield position.

Surprisingly solid.

 CB: Eric Bailly

The central defender has been hailed as the next Nemanja Vidic by many here at the Tavern due to his ruthless defending.

He’ll be a thorn in Costa’s side.

 CB: Chris Smalling

The England International defender struggled to get into United’s team when he came off the back of an awful Euro 2016 – but with injuries, he’s found his way back into the set-up.

 LB: Daley Blind

Blind has undergone somewhat of a resurgence under Mourinho, and will no doubt man the left-hand side ahead of Luke Shaw.

 CDM: Ander Herrera

Initially seemed out of favour when Mourinho first arrived at United, but in recent weeks has found himself playing in a defensive midfielder role and has looked solid each time he’s featured for them.

The 26-year-old could be a vital player in stopping the strong front-line of Chelsea this Sunday.

 CM: Marouane Fellaini

Mourinho seems to rate him, and his presence in the midfield will allow Pogba to push up the field.

He has been good this year.

 CAM: Paul Pogba

Pogba has struggled so far this season, but he is unlikely to be dropped against Chelsea.

Playing further up the field could help him out, somewhat.

 RW: Marcus Rashford

Another huge test in Marcus Rashford’s career.

You wouldn’t bet against him scoring.

 LW: Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard has impressed so far this season, and seems to have found quite a significant role under Jose Mourinho.

Expect him to get another run-out.

 ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Zlatan guarantees goals – and he will need to be ruthless against Chelsea.

He is the ultimate big game player. Watch out, David Luiz.
