Blackburn manager Steve Kean has stated that he is unaware of rumourslinking Sven Goran Eriksson with the club, and has praised the players going forward.
The Swedish coach was sacked by Leicester City on Monday, and speculation dictated that the former England boss could be brought in at Ewood Park to help Kean salvage Rovers’ season.
Despite the speculation, the Scot is unaware of any change in structure within the club.
“I’ve not been told we’re going to change anything around in that capacity,” he told Mirror Football.
“I’m working closely with our sports director, Simon Hunt, and that’s going very well. If the owners are going to do something, I’m sure they’ll consult with me.”
Blackburn are bottom of the table after being beaten 2-1 by Tottenham on Sunday, albeit in an improved performance.
Kean’s men host unbeaten Newcastle at Ewood Park in the Carling Cup on Wednesday, and the man in charge is hopeful his side can replicate the performance against Spurs.
“They’ve started very well and they’re unbeaten but they’re coming to Ewood and I think Tottenham will tell you there’s not too many teams that enjoy coming to Ewood.”
“If we can add a more rugged will to not concede and to fight for a clean sheet, and I don’t just mean the defenders, I mean everybody.
“They’re working on it and it’s definitely improving, so if we can put it all together we’ll get clean sheets and we’ll score,” he concluded.
Speculation over Kean’s future continues, as Blackburn are at risk of being stranded at the bottom of the table.
