Arsenal supporters in the Transfer Tavern are expecting to welcome new arrivals to the Emirates Stadium following the signings of Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette.
It has been an exciting transfer window for our resident Gunners, and they’re expecting the club to conclude deals for new arrivals before the start of the upcoming season.
Everyone affiliated with the North London club is hoping that the club completes a swift return to Champions League football, having failed to qualify for the competition for the first time since Wenger’s arrival back in 1996.
To ensure that the FA Cup winners do return to the dazzling heights of the most treasured club competition in football, then the Gunners will be forced to increase their expenditure on transfers.
Their club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette is an appropriate indicator that Arsenal is willing to spend big in this transfer window.
Our landlord has highlighted three defenders that the Gunners should target this month.
Kostas Manolas

The 26-year-old has repeatedly been linked with a move away from Rome, with a transfer to Zenit breaking down earlier in the window. His agent has even claimed that the Greek international is the subject of interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
He was an indispensable figure in Roma’s tough title challenge to eventual winners Juventus, making 33 Serie A appearances last year.
Many Roma supporters regard Manolas as their best defender and consequently are hopeful that the club retains the player. Due to financial implications, the Italian side may be forced to sell the player, as they have done with Salah and Rudiger. Manolas is highly regarded for his proficiency in aerial duels and impressive passing ability.
Jonathan Tah

Another defender that the Gunners should target is Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah. The 21-year-old is widely recognised as one of the most exciting defensive prospects that Germany has had in years, his abilities are outstanding, and his potential is vast.
During only four seasons as senior professional, Tah has amassed 114 appearances – gathering invaluable experience in the Bundesliga, one of the most competitive leagues in world football. Tah is regarded for his aptitude at retrieving possession and his composed nature while completing his defensive work.
Kalidou Koulibaly

The 26-year-old has been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs throughout the duration of his career as a Napoli player. Over the course of the past three seasons, Koulibaly has amassed 119 appearances for the Italian side, establishing himself as one of their most valued players.
At 6ft5, the Senegal international is a commanding presence at the heart of the defence, and he’s also regarded as his orthodox, no-nonsense, approach to tackling. His key strengths include his ability to block the ball and his impressive passing range.
