Spurs were one of the best defensive sides in the league last season and their fans in the bar at the Football Transfer Tavern loved it.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side conceded just 26 times in their 38 league games as they went on to achieve a comfortable second place.
As of yet, the Argentine has failed to add any reinforcements to his squad, which has left Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern feeling disgruntled.
The club have seen their nearest rivals bolster their line-ups for next season, whilst their club are still to kick off their summer spending.
Of course there is still plenty of time, so there’s no need to panic.
With Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld propping up the back four, Pochettino’s side were formidable last season.
However, should either or both sustain injuries, Spurs need adequate replacements. Kevin Wimmer is good, but we’ve thought of a few more who can help tighten it up at the back.
Tottenham should consider moving for 1 of these 3 defenders this month…
Serge Aurier

Spurs are now in need of a right-back following Kyle Walker’s departure.
Kieran Trippier may prove to be an adequate replacement, but Paris Saint-Germain’s Serge Aurier should be targeted to add healthy competition.
The Parisians have signed Dani Alves and therefore a deal could be made easier.
Virgil Van Dijk

The Saints defender is ready to make the step up after a remarkable run in the Premier League. Van Dijk was being chased by Liverpool, but the Reds pursuit has cooled after Southampton complained over foul play.
It all means the door is now open for Tottenham to make a move on the Dutchman with him surely ready to play for a title challenging club.
Juan Foyth

According to the Mirror, Mauricio Pochettino is already interested in a move for the Estudiantes defender.
Foyth whose agent is former Manchester United midfielder Juan Veron, is ready to reject interest from Roma and Russia to move to Spurs’ temporary home Wembley.
The 19-year-old could cost Tottenham £10m.
