Time is running out: 2 problems that Tottenham must solve before the window closes

Tottenham Hotspur supporters in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that their side can complete deals for key targets before the conclusion of the summer transfer window.

It has been a bitterly frustrating summer for our resident Spurs fans; other clubs have been concluding their deals with haste and efficiency, while the North London club have yet to make much of a splash.

Mauricio Pochettino has frequently discussed his desire to provide his squad with greater quality as they look to mount another challenge for the Premier League title. The standard of the opposition has improved significantly this season, and Spurs must be ready to rival the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Our landlord has highlighted two problems that they must solve before the window closes…

Kyle Walker Replacement

Kyle Walker-Peters was tremendous on his full Premier League debut against Newcastle United. Nevertheless, Spurs cannot be reliant on one, inexperienced 20-year-old, to assume the void created by Kyle Walker’s departure to Manchester City.

They really need to find a good replacement.

Cedric Soares, Joao Cancelo and Ricardo Pereira are all examples of players that Spurs could look to target.

Depth Dilemma

Spurs flaunt one of the best starting elevens in the league, yet their bench doesn’t rival the same quality and depth that the likes of Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho have at their disposal.

The North London club should target established players who will provide the squad with invaluable cover and enhance the degree of competition within the first-team.
