Having secured the signings of Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette, our resident Arsenal fans are comparatively content, yet they’re also hopeful that the club will be able to finalise deals for further reinforcements over the course of the forthcoming weeks.
In the meantime, the Gunners can look forward to an enticing clash with London rivals, Chelsea this Saturday.
The last time the two teams met, Arsene Wenger’s side were victorious, and both clubs will meet again on the 6th of August in the Community Shield.
The North London side have already played three pre-season fixtures, winning all three.
Additionally, they have the prospect of the Emirates Cup on the horizon, where they’ll play host to the likes of Benfica, Sevilla and RB Leipzig.
In the meantime, our landlord has highlighted two players who are out of their depth at Arsenal.
Mohamed Elneny
Since his arrival at Arsenal in January 2016, Mohamed Elneny has failed to make a purposeful impact in the iconic red shirt. The 25-year-old has struggled to assert his authority in Wenger’s starting eleven, and consequently, his talents have been predominately utilised as a rotational option. Our landlord senses that Elneny is there to fill up the options, rather than embodying a player who could establish himself as the centrepiece of Wenger’s team.
Carl Jenkinson
Despite starting his career in North London in an auspicious manner, it seems that the former Charlton defender has been left to regress on the periphery of Arsene Wenger’s first-team.
The Englishman only made five appearances for the Gunners last season and spent the two seasons before the last term on loan at West Ham United. Our landlord thinks that his Arsenal career is unsalvageable.
