Time to get real: These 2 Brighton players are seriously out of their depth

The Seagulls are in the Transfer Tavern tonight and they’re still celebrating a historic promotion.

Brighton are on the verge of a historic season and they set themselves up for their first ever Premier League season.

Once the thrill of competing in the top flight wears off, surely the fear of relegation will set in and Chris Hughton will need to keep his squad at its best to compete.

When clubs get newly promoted to the Premier League, they usually find a few players in their squad not up to par for the new challenge.

The top flight of English football is one of the toughest in the world so Brighton fans will be hoping Hughton will get rid of any passengers they have in their ranks.

With that being said, here are two Brighton players who are seriously out of their depth in the Premier League.

Jiri Skalak

Ever since his transfer to the club in January 2016, Jiri Skalak hasn’t exactly become a fan favourite amongst the Brighton supporters.

The Czech Republican left winger recently came under fire from former Brighton defender, Adam Virgo.

Virgo claimed Solly March and Jamie Murphy have much more to offer out wide than Skalak and it is hard not to agree.

Skalak isn’t a bad player, but the Premier League might be a stretch too far for him. Brighton should look to cash in on him whilst they still can.

Gaetan Bong

Another weak player on the left side of Brighton’s team, Gaetan Bong is another player the fans wouldn’t be sad to lose.

When he joined from Wigan in 2015, the Cameroonian left back was thrust straight into the first team, only to miss half the season through injury.

He then regained his place in the side for the 2016/17 season only to lose it again later on in the season.

He never really got going with the Seagulls so Hughton should probably look to move him on as find a suitable replacement.
