Time to get real: These 2 Chelsea players are seriously out of their depth

Chelsea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly awaiting the start of their pre-season tour.

Despite their 8-2 triumph against Fulham behind closed doors, the Champions have yet to begin their pre-season tour of the Far East; their first game will be played this Saturday against fierce rivals Arsenal.

The last time the London sides met was in the final of the FA Cup, where the Gunners triumphed 2-1.

Antonio Conte has been conducting astute business in the window so far, as the Blues look poised to complete the signing of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

In addition to the Spaniard, Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoué Bakayoko have all been acquired to strengthen the options available to Chelsea’s passionate manager.

While the much of the attention has been rightly placed on incomings at Stamford Bridge, our landlord has highlighted two players who appear out of their depth with the West London team.

Mario Pasalic

Having signed from Hajduk Split, the Croatian has yet to make a single senior appearance for the Champions. The 22-year-old embodies the quintessential member of Chelsea’s infamous loan army, frantically discarded across the globe to increase his transfer value. The Blues’ midfielder has spent time at Elche, Monaco, AC Milan and now he’s poised to join Real Betis on loan.  Accordingly, it seems exceedingly improbable that Pasalic will establish himself as a mainstay in Antonio Conte’s side.

Matej Delač

Incidentally, the Croatian is currently Chelsea’s longest-serving player, despite not making a single senior appearance for the club.

Matej Delač signed for the Blues in the summer of 2010 and has spent the following seven years on loan at ten different clubs.

At the age of 24, our landlord believes it is rather fanciful and frankly absurd to insinuate that the goalkeeper has a future at Chelsea.
