Time to get real: These 2 Stoke City players are seriously out of their depth

Stoke City supporters in the Transfer Tavern are enthusiastically awaiting the arrival of new additions.

The Potters have completed two signings so far this summer, Josh Tymon on a free transfer from Hull City, and Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea

Accordingly, our resident Stoke fans are hopeful that the club will conclude deals for further incomings over the course of the upcoming weeks.

In addition to their transfer proceedings, Stoke has made a decent start to their pre-season tour, registering a win, a draw and a defeat from their three games so far.

While much of the focus has been placed on new additions, we’ve decided to take an alternative approach.

Our landlord has opted to highlight two Stoke players who are seemingly out of their depth.

Philipp Wollscheid

The 28-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements last season at Stoke as he joined Wolfsburg on a season-long loan. Albeit, his time with the German side didn’t progress as anticipated. The former Bayer Leverkusen centre-back only made nine appearances for the Bundesliga outfit and even featured twice for their reserve team. Having failed to impress in his native Germany, it appears rather unlikely for Wollscheid to resurrect his Stoke career.

Marc Muniesa

Despite the excitement and the anticipation that his arrival ensued, the 25-year-old’s Stoke career has deteriorated enormously. A product of the world-renowned La Maisa, the Spaniard was destined to take the Premier League by storm, yet his time in England has failed to attain the heights expected of him. Having only featured on 11 occasions for the Potters during the last term, it is highly unlikely that Muneisa will restore the excitement that was once associated with his presence.
