Time to get rid? These 2 players will hold Brighton and Hove Albion back next season

There’s not been much calming in Brighton fans this summer, with the club’s supporters in the Transfer Tavern in high spirits ahead of the new season.

After years flirting with a debut season in the top flight, Chris Hughton’s side finally secured automatic promotion from the Championship last season.

Brighton have been efficient in the transfer window so far, welcoming new faces from the second tier of German football to join the fight for Premier League survival.

Markus Suttner and Pascal Gross have both arrived from German outfit Ingolstadt, while Aussie shot-stopper Mathew Ryan has signed from Valencia.

Hughton has maintained the contingent that earned his side promotion last season, though ‘keeper David Stockdale has joined Birmingham.

Whether the Seagulls boss allows any more to depart the south-coast side remains to be seen.

A few of his current squad will be unable to make the step up to the big time. And we’ve picked out TWO players who will surely hold Brighton back next season…

Glen Murray

The Englishman has proven time and time again that he is prolific in the second tier of English football. Murray netted 23 times in 45 appearances for the Seagulls last season.

However, the 33 year-old simply cannot cut the mustard in the Premier League after failing with both Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.

Chris Hughton needs to address his striker problem quickly.

Lewis Dunk

The 25 year-old impressed for Brighon from left-back last season, although his lack of discipline is not something to behold.

Dunk picked up 13 yellows and one red in the Championship and his temperament could cost Brighton dearly this season.

Brighton fans, is it worth the risk for Chris Hughton? Let us know in the comments…
