The Terriers are in full force at the Transfer Tavern today and after a busy transfer window, they are all looking forward to a historic season.

Huddersfield are on the verge of a historic season as they prepare to play top flight football for the first time in 45 years.

The Terriers beat Reading in a penalty shootout at the tail end of last season to win the play-off final and promotion to the first division for the first time in the Premier League era.

Manager David Wagner has already had quite a busy summer transfer window, bringing in a host of new faces to the club.

Whilst transfer into the club are important, transfers out of the club can hold an equal value to the success of Huddersfield next season.

Despite Bournemouth’s success, Eddie Howe has proven at times that loyalty to certain players can backfire and Huddersfield will be no different.

If Wagner doesn’t move certain players on soon then they may find themselves struggling in the Premier League next season.

On that note, here are two Huddersfield players who could hold the club back next season.

Harry Bunn

When Harry Bunn signed on a free from Manchester City three years ago, the fans thought they were getting a guaranteed player for the future.

Fast forward to now and Bunn hasn’t quite hit the heights he would have hoped to.

Last season saw the winger make just 16 appearances in the league and contribute only one assist in that time.

It hasn’t worked out for the 24-year-old and if they’re the numbers he is hitting in the Championship, he most certainly isn’t ready for life in the Premier League.

Dean Whitehead

Given that Dean Whitehead recently signed a contract extension, it is doubtful that he is going anywhere. Although that can’t stop him from holding the club back.

In his prime Whitehead was a good player, nothing special but a solid player to have in your side.

Now aged 35, he is well past that prime and surely Huddersfield could do with someone a little younger and sharper than the central midfielder.

Whilst his experience can provide a voice in the dressing room, on the pitch back in the top flight it is doubtful he will make any sort of positive impact.
