The Watford fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to the new season ahead following on from Marco Silva’s appointment as head coach.
Watford had a tricky season during the 2016/17 campaign which saw them finish just six points clear of the relegation zone.
Following the departure of former boss Walter Mazzarri, Marco Silva was appointed as the new manager of Watford in May this year.
Silva has already had quite a busy transfer window, bringing in the likes of Nathan Chalobah and Tom Cleverley into the club.
The Portuguese boss clearly has big plans for the Hornets and has already come out to say the ambition of the club’s owners is part of the reason he took the job.
It’ll be a tough job to keep the club afloat in the Premier League but Silva can make it a big easier on himself with some smart selling in this transfer window.
There are a few within the Watford ranks who could derail the side and Silva can’t let that happen.
On that note, here are two Watford players who will seriously hold the club back next season, if they stay.
Jerome Sinclair
Our landlord doesn’t think Watford should sell Jerome Sinclair, despite being Watford’s worst player last season statistically.
Aged just 20, Sinclair is still young and the fact that he transferred from Liverpool has got to mean something of his talents, perhaps he needs a loan spell away from the club to develop more.
Silva doesn’t want to look back at Sinclair as a player who could have brought the club so much success should he develop into a superstar so he needs to be patient with him.
Send him out on loan and let him prove what he can really do.
Isaac Success
Making 19 appearances in his debut season for Watford, Isaac Success hasn’t exactly paid back the club record fee of £12.5 million the Hornets paid for him.
In those 19 league appearances, the Nigerian only scored one goal and provided one assist.
Success has been tormented by injuries since his arrival at Watford, but one goal in 19 games just is not good enough for a £12.5 million man.
Hard to say Watford should sell him given his age, but if he has another terrible season, Watford could pay the price.
