Time to leave? These 2 Liverpool players’ careers are at a real crossroads

Although Liverpool fans at the Tavern have been disappointed in their display at crucial times this season, they are still proud of their team.

Jurgen Klopp’s men may have had a terrible start to 2017 by picking up just 12 Premier League points so far, though Liverpool fans at the Tavern still trust their manager.

Their wins against Tottenham and Arsenal at Anfield has kept the faithful believing that the Reds can make the Champions League.

Their squad has shown much excitement with players from all positions striking to make Liverpool the highest scoring side in the top flight.

The problem with all of this flair and talent however is the thought of losing it.

The landlord of the Tavern believes that if Liverpool fail to nail down a place in Europe’s elite, then a few of the players will be weighing up their options next season.

With that in mind let’s take a look at TWO of these players at Anfield whose careers are at a real crossroads….

Philippe Coutinho

Coutinho was signed by Brendan Rodgers back in 2013 from Inter Milan and has arguably been the best buy from the Northern Irishman, during his tenure at the club.

The playmaker has 29 goals and 29 assists in over 100 games for the Merseyside outfit, though for all his efforts is yet to win any silverware with the club.

This lack of success for Liverpool has fuelled rumours linking the Brazilian to a summer move to Barcelona.

What makes matters more worrying is that Coutinho is known to be good friends with national teammate Neymar and ex-teammate Luis Suarez.

Coutinho has also been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain though many think due to his ties with Barcelona he may link up with the Catalan giants in the Summer.

Liverpool fans at the Tavern are really hoping this doesn’t happen and that he stays on Merseyside.

Daniel Sturridge

When Daniel Sturridge joined Liverpool, the fans were unsure of whether the former Chelsea man would be able to perform consistently as he was a winger, which is the position he was most known for.

Fast forward 4 years and Sturridge has been one of the most clinical strikers to ever grace the club.

Of course being a part of the fantastic ‘SAS’ partnership with Luis Suarez which is, perhaps, the greatest duo in of the modern era of English football.

However, his form has dipped in the seasons after Suarez has left.

Injury has plagued the striker and he is behind Origi and even Firmino in the Anfield pecking order, linking him to a move elsewhere.

One of these destinations could be West Ham United.

Liverpool fans at the Tavern will be sad to see the striker depart though think it’s best that the England international moves on to pastures new.
