As the end of the season approaches here in the Football Transfer Tavern, Chelsea fans are getting rather excited. Not only does the summer bring the departure of the least popular man since Avram Grant managed at Stamford Bridge in Rafael Benitez but it also brings the return of the Special One Jose Mourinho – or so Chelsea fans and the media hope. After a small scare when Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement yesterday morning, it now seems that Chelsea have nothing to worry about in terms of Mourinho getting an alternative offer and it seems that the fans are eager for May to end.
Not only will Jose be coming back to the Bridge, but some serious money is looking like being spent by the mega-rich club who feel that after a disappointing season, they want to get back to challenging for the title and are certainly not willing to put up with another disaster in Europe.
