One of the unsung players of the season in Football Transfer Tavern’s eyes is Sunderland left back Danny Rose who is set to return to Tottenham next week, but his long-term future is still undecided according to the Shields Gazette.
The Sunderland loanee has expressed his delight at playing regular first team football this season at the Stadium of Light and he may be open to a permanent switch to the North East if the Black Cats stay up.
Tottenham are yet to decide whether the pacey left back will be kept on next season or sold, with Benoit Assou-Ekotto the firm favourite in that position at White Hart Lane.
Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is unsure what will happen this summer.
“He’s our player at the moment. Sunday will be his last game and then we will see,” Di Canio told the Shields Gazette.
“He’s got a great future in front of him. He’s a powerful guy. The strength and elasticity he’s got mean he can run forward with the ball and beat people easily.
“It’s obvious he can play at the top level, but everybody has to improve.”
