Tottenham fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern have been desperate for a world class striker for some time, and sources at talkSPORT reckon they may not have to wait too much longer.
Barcelona forward David Villa is being strongly linked with a move to White Hart Lane, with reports in Spain suggesting a deal is close to being completed.
Spanish radio station Cadena Ser revealed on Wednesday night that the move was in the final stages of completion, with both parties said to be satisfied at how talks have progressed.
Villa is said to be desperate for a new challenge after becoming disillusioned with life at the Camp Nou. He won his place back in the side during the second half of the season, and despite some good performances and goals, has accepted he will always be second choice to Lionel Messi.
Tottenham meanwhile have been in the market for a world class striker for some time, with Andre Villas-Boas and even his predecessor Harry Redknapp claiming that a top class forward could be the difference between them being title challengers.
Villa came close to joining Tottenham’s great North London rivals Arsenal in January, but is understood to have spoken directly to Andre Villas-Boas, with the move expected to be completed imminently.
