There is massive disappointment for Andre Villas Boas and Tottenham fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by talkSPORT that their long-term target Leandro Damiao is set for a move to Serie A outfit Napoli.
The player has been admired by Andre Villas-Boas and Spurs for a long time now and the club are set to miss out on the Brazilian international despite nearly agreeing terms and a fee for the player during the last transfer window.
Both Villas-Boas and Spurs have been individually tracking the player with former boss Harry Redknapp also a keen admirer of the talented Internacional man and now Napoli are set to pounce and land him.
A fee and terms have been agreed for the striker and Italian publication II Mattino noted that there has been negotiations over the last week between Internacional and Napoli with a £16 million fee agreed. Spurs may now have to turn their attention to another forward as the summer approaches and Gonzalo Higuain could well be top of that list potentially in a cash plus player swap for Real Madrid target Gareth Bale.
