There is positive news for Tottenham fans ahead of the eagerly anticipated Premier League fixture against Chelsea tonight with Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas looking set for a major coup at the end of the season as it is claimed by talkSPORT that he could well land Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto.
The young player is from the very highly rated La Masia academy and is certainly not short of talent.
As we all know, players who come from the Barcelona youth system rarely disappoint but often have a problem breaking into the first team and that is hardly shocking given the amount of talent on display at the club – it is no shame if you cannot replace Xavi or Andres Iniesta and now Roberto is finding that despite being highly rated and respected at the club, a first team place is becoming more and more distant and could well look for a move away in the summer because of this fact.
Andre Villas-Boas is attempting to build a side for the future and whilst at Chelsea he was never really given the chance to bring in ‘his players’ and faced mutiny from ones such as Frank Lampard when trying to drop them, no such problem has occurred at Spurs and now the manager is eyeing the young player to become the latest acquisition in a side that is certainly going places.
