With qualification for the Champions League out of their hands after Arsenal’s impressive 4-1 victory over FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic last night Spurs fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been left ruing their lack of firepower in the final third this season.
The club have been linked to various strikers this summer with Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke, long-term target Leandro Damiao and Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo the wanted men.
However it appears that the fight for Negredo will be a fierce one with Inter Milan also interested in the 27-year-old Spanish international who some think would be the ideal signing to offer foil to Gareth Bale’s superb off-the-ball movement.
However the Italian giants in Milan have also closely watched Negredo and Inter’s sporting director Marco Branca has revealed his admiration of the forward as he looks to bring him to the San Siro this summer.
talkSPORT report that he told Spanish paper Diario de Sevilla: “He is a great player and one I know very well. But now is not the time to do crazy things.
“It is one thing for us to be interested in a player and quite another for us to be able to afford his contract.”
