Tottenham fans are right: Kieran Trippier missing England duty could be great for them

Tottenham Hotspur will return from the international break with a tough encounter against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium awaiting them.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have had a number of players injured throughout the campaign, however, the Argentine has still managed to see his side produce their best ever start to a Premier League season.

Spurs saw another player go down with injury at the weekend when Kieran Trippier had to come off against Crystal Palace with a groin problem.

That setback has meant that he had to withdraw from the upcoming England squad as they prepare to face the United States of America and Croatia, which led to a number of fans reacting with delight on Twitter.

And, it would be hard to disagree with them about it being a good thing for them as a club.

Although the right-back will likely be disappointed to miss out on representing his country, the rest that he will be able to get over the two week period will aid him and his recovery in the hopes that he will be fit for the Chelsea meeting.

Tottenham are already down to the bare bones in terms of depth and cover in certain areas as they failed to add anyone in the summer.

Serge Aurier can provide cover for them, however, his performances have been erratic in the past and he does not exactly provide fans with any confidence when they witness him on the pitch.

Trippier has certainly come in for his own criticism this season with dodgy displays, however, Spurs fans will be absolutely right in wanting him to be ready for the game against Chelsea.

And, if that means he has to miss out on international duty, then so be it.
