The Premier League is looking at adding artificial fan noise to games when the season resumes, according to The Telegraph via @Daily_Hotspur.
According to chief sports writer Jeremy Wilson, companies have pitched proposals demonstrating the audio effects they can provide, both for stadiums and broadcasters.
Premier League clubs are bracing themselves for teams having to play behind closed doors for a substantial period of time and officials are well aware that watching football on television without fans can be quite peculiar.
Earlier this week, leading figures agreed to start stage one of the ‘Project Restart’ initiative, with plans in motion for players to take part in no-contact training in small groups from Tuesday onwards (BBC).
ESPN reported the Bundesliga was “eerily silent” as Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland became the first player to score in the German top flight’s return and Premier League executives are keen to recreate the atmosphere for which English football is famously known.
Unsurprisingly, a whole number of Spurs fans ripped into the latest idea, with one supporter tweeting that it “sounds like a City match” and another urging the authorities to “void the season”,
