Tottenham: Fans drool over Steven Bergwijn’s debut as he scores to guide Spurs to City win

Loads of Tottenham fans have showered new signing Steven Bergwijn with praise after scoring on his debut during his side’s 2-0 victory against Manchester City on Sunday.

The 22-year-old stole the headlines following his £27m move to north London from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven on transfer deadline day. He marked his first start in a white shirt with a superb volley as Jose Mourinho’s side won an encounter full of VAR controversy and red card drama.

The Portuguese manager described the Dutchman’s goal as ‘classy’ in his post-match interview with BBC Sport after he got off to the best possible start with his new club. His work rate was also impressive after making two interceptions and winning all of his aerial duels, as per SofaScore. Supporters were delighted for Bergwijn and made their feelings clear on social media.
