Harry Winks won his sixth senior England cap last night, as the Three Lions eased past Kosovo 4-0 in their final Euro 2020 qualifying encounter away from home.
The Tottenham midfielder was in inspired form, too, opening the scoring just after the half-hour mark with a well-taken finish.
Winks has now staked a respectable claim to be Gareth Southgate’s first-choice holding midfielder at next summer’s European Championships, though one issue the 23-year-old could face is a lack of consistent game-time for his club side.
Winks has only completed a full 90 minutes in the Premier League four times this season, with his last start for Spurs coming in mid-October when the north Londoners were held 1-1 by Watford (via Transfermarkt).
However, should he start to see an increase in minutes, there is every chance that he will be included into England’s Euro 2020 squad for next summer’s tournament, with it likely he’ll be a starter in midfield if he can retain this level of form for the rest of the campaign.
Spurs fans were unsurprisingly chipper about Winks’ contribution last night, here’s what some had to say about his performance on Twitter…

I think spurs should use him in the role England used him in tonight, as a number 8
