For Tottenham fans, transfer windows can be a bit of a drag. The fans are usually left waiting for a long time before two or three players come along at once. What the club are good at though, is getting players tied down on long-term deals and according to Di Marzio, Erik Lamela will be the next man to sign along the dotted line.

This summer has seen Tottenham linked with a number of wingers. Wilfried Zaha, Malcom and Christian Pulisic have been mentioned with Tottenham but it could be a much more cost-effective option to keep Erik Lamela as one of the starting wingers and see what the tricky Argentine can do. Lamela doesn’t have the same yard of pace that other wingers do but his ability to beat a man and to add goals from out wide makes him a very useful asset.
There are a lot of Tottenham fans that will be frustrated with the Lamela news but overall the feeling is positive. Mauricio Pochettino obviously sees something in the 26-year-old to reward him with a new contract and if the fans can get behind their man then they might begin to see some more performances like the one he put in against Leicester on the final day of the season.

I’m down with this. Can’t understand those people that don’t like him. Can play, always works hard, is always up for the scrap and loves playing against our rivals. Spurs legend tbh

To be fair to Lamela, everyone gave him stick and he worked his arse off to prove us wrong. Last game of the season showed us what he’s capable of. Hopefully now his injuries are behind him and he can fulfill his potential and prove the doubters wrong!

Sign the think, Erik. You'll definitely get a game because there'll be no new players to challenge for your position

Whilst in the past there’s been a lot of bad feeling about Lamela, it looks like the fans are finally ready to give him a proper chance.
