Tottenham fans on Twitter couldn’t get enough of Lloris’ crucial stop in midweek win

Last night saw Tottenham turn in one of their best performances of the season when they thrashed Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in the Champions League. The Germans are no push-overs as they sit top of the Bundesliga, however, the game could have been very different had Hugo Lloris not produced a stunning save to deny Dan-Axel Zagadou in the first half.

After putting in a stunning display on the weekend against Leicester City, Hugo Lloris was in the mood for it again yesterday. He may not have had much to do in the second half, but in the first half, he was undoubtedly the busier of the two shot-stoppers on the night, and when he turned Zagadou’s header behind for a corner late in the first-half Wembley breathed a sigh of relief.

A well worked Dortmund corner was eventually whipped into the box where Zagadou, being marked by Juan Foyth, managed to connect with a header that was heading for the far post. Lloris, though, did everything right as he scrambled across his goal line and clawed the ball behind to stop a crucial goal that would no doubt have seen the whole dynamic change for the second half.

The Lilywhites will hope Lloris can keep up his inspired form ahead of the second leg meeting with Dortmund, a game where he’ll need to concede less than three goals to guarantee qualification.
