Tottenham Hotspur were in Champions League action last night and as everyone will tell you, they bottled it. A win was a must for the club and after Hugo Lloris’s late dismissal the ten men of Tottenham drew 2-2. However, had the officials been competent it would have finished 3-2 to The Lilywhites.

After Tottenham found themselves 1-0 down they started to put more pressure on and probe for an equaliser. Every Spurs fan both in the stadium and on Twitter around the world thought they had their equaliser too when Davinson Sanchez tapped home from a Kieran Trippier corner but, bizarrely, the linesman on the far side had his flag up as Harry Kane was in an offside position on the goal line, although he wasn’t interfering with play.
The confusion around the decision was huge. Both Jon Champion and Glenn Hoddle who were on commentary for the live game on BT Sport were baffled that Spurs’ goal was ruled out. There were no complaints from anyone in PSV colours at the goal and it seems the only two people on the planet who believe Tottenham’s goal was an illegal one were the muppets with a flag and whistle who somehow took charge of the game.

Spurs fans everywhere will still be fuming with the officials from yesterday and will hope they fail to referee in the Champions League again after last night’s shocker.
