Kieran Trippier hasn’t had the season that everyone thought he would. The defender was a hero for his national team last summer, putting in some incredible performances as England finished 4th in the World Cup, yet he hasn’t been the same for Spurs. Trippier is in high demand, though, and Atletico Madrid have joined the race for his signature.

Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid may sound like one of those transfers that only ever happens on your Football Manager save, but in this case the reports are genuine. The Englishman could find himself with the Spanish giants and playing his football at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium should The Daily Mail’s story be accurate, and it’s one that Tottenham fans would love to be true.
The performances of Trippier at the World Cup will have gone a long way to helping him get these rumours going, even if the tournament was almost a whole year ago. The displays in Russia are still in the memory, though, even if the 28-year-old has been below par for pretty much the entire club season so far. Atletico aren’t alone in their pursuit of Trippier either, as they’ll be fighting alongside Manchester United and Napoli for the full-back’s signature.

The Lilywhites want nothing more than to see Trippier out of the door this summer, and with Atletico also joining the list of potential buyers things are looking good.
