Christian Eriksen is one of the Premier League’s best players. The Danish international oozes class and more often than not he makes the difference for the Lilywhites. This season, though, has seen the 26-year-old battling against injury and his form and game time has suffered, so to see him start in a meaningless UEFA Nations League game hasn’t gone down well with the fans.

It’s not the fact that Eriksen started against Ireland that has frustrated them, it’s the fact that the game against Ireland was utterly meaningless and they’ve risked their best player. After Eriksen played 90 minutes on Friday when the Danes overcame Wales in Cardiff it was confirmed that Wales had one their UEFA Nations League group regardless of the result against Ireland, meaning that some of the bigger stars had the opportunity be given some much needed rest.
As you can imagine, the feeling amongst the Spurs fans is now that their prime playmaker will probably need a rest this weekend, although that’s simply not an option as they face a tough home game against Chelsea at Wembley. The Blues have got an exemplary record over Tottenham at the national stadium and to turn that around and get three points, Eriksen will be crucial to Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, although after he came off at half-time with a knock last night it’s up in the air whether he’ll play or not.
You can read The Lilywhites’ comments on Eriksen’s Denmark inclusion here:
Of course he does. Then he'll need 'resting' against Chelsea due to his reoccurring abdominal injury that only prevents him from playing for Spurs

The Lilywhites were far from happy to see Eriksen play for his country and will hope he’s fit and ready for Chelsea on Saturday.
