When Fernando Llorente signed for Tottenham it never looked like being a match made in heaven, yet here we are. The Spanish ace has been one of the main men in the Lilywhites’ run to the Champions League final, and as The Sun claims he’ll leave the club for free this summer there have been some desperately gutted Tottenham fans around.

Llorente is not the most prolific player in the world, nor is he as good as the man he deputises for, Harry Kane. But in Kane’s absence, the big Spaniard has been everything that the North London club have needed. His ability to play up front and bring others into the game with his hold up play has been crucial for the Lilywhites, and he’s been a real game-changer this season.
This season, the ex-Juventus and Swansea City man has bagged himself eight goals and five assists in his 33 games, with most of them coming from the bench. That is one hell of a return for someone who is often given the dying minutes of games to make an impact, and he’s had a real say in all of the Lilywhites’ last three Champions League ties against Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax, so his departure will be incredibly tough to take.

A lot of Tottenham fans are going to be really emotional when Llorente eventually leaves, and who can blame them given his heroics for them this season.
