You can ask any Tottenham fan what they need this summer and a lot of them will come back with the same answer: competent full-backs. At the moment, the likes of Ben Davies and Danny Rose on the left and Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier on the right just isn’t cutting it, yet according to A Bola, they could be set to move for Alejandro Grimaldo.
[ABola] understands Tottenham Hotspur have again expressed an interest in signing Benfica left back Alex Grimaldo this summer.
It is understood Spurs have scouted the player numerous times over the last year, and could finally make a move for the player this summer.#THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/BWjwIHPWhI

Grimaldo is one of those players who a lot of Tottenham fans will be aware of, however, very few will have seen him play. As hoards of fans continue to beg that they sign him, let us fill in some of the blanks for you. The 23-year-old Spaniard is a staple of Benfica’s backline, not missing a single minute in the Portuguese first division this season and having come through Barcelona’s La Masia, he’s the real deal.
Having joined Benfica in summer 2016 from Barcelona’s B team, it looks like the defender is now ready to make his departure from the Portuguese giants, and Tottenham Hotspur would be a brilliant step up. The Premier League boasts some incredible Spanish talents already, and Grimaldo certainly wouldn’t go amiss in North London, especially seeing as he’s also chipped in with four goals and six assists in 26 games this season from left-back.

The Lilywhites have complete belief that Grimaldo can be their next long-term left-back and would love nothing more than to see the Spaniard snapped up in the summer.
