Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Alan Hutton believes that Danny Rose has told Jose Mourinho that he wants to leave the club.

Rose has only featured twice in the league since Mourinho’s arrival in north London, both as a substitute, prompting Hutton to come to the conclusion that the 29-year-old may now be seeking a way out of Spurs.
Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton has insisted that conversations may have taken place between Rose and his manager with the defender potentially unhappy regarding his current status at the club.
While Mourinho ruled Rose out of their New Year’s Day clash at Southampton due to injury, Hutton thinks something else could be going on behind the scenes.
He said: “I’m wondering if they’ve had a conversation, as with the other contract boys that haven’t signed, and maybe he’s said to his manager, obviously not to the press, his time’s up there and he’s looking to move on.
“I’m just wondering if there’s something like that in the background because he hasn’t played a lot and I think he’s a fantastic player.
“I get it if they’re saying there’s an injury, but I’ve got a feeling there’s just something else there. I think there’s been a conversation and maybe he feels his time’s up.”
With Rose one of a handful of players who have fewer than 18 months left on their current deals, it is hardly surprising to see his future being discussed, not least in the month of January.
His game time has dwindled dramatically since Mourinho’s arrival, with the full-back going from a regular starter at the beginning of the season to being completely left out of the last three Premier League games, with the Spurs boss unsure of a return date.
That said, he did play every minute of Mourinho’s two Champions League games at the helm, which could suggest he is being used in rotation, at best.
So that could add weight to Hutton’s theory – and with opportunities appearing to decrease at Spurs with Ryan Sessegnon claiming a left-back berth on Wednesday, perhaps Rose will be looking for first-team football elsewhere in the not-too-distant future.
