In a recent article for Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold discussed Spurs’ ‘long-term striker transfer plans’, dropping a hint that those plans include Kyle Joseph.
In his article, Gold claims that Tottenham have been ‘keeping a close eye on’ Joseph, who has bagged five goals and provided one assist over his 12 League One appearances for Wigan Athletic so far this season.

The journalist continues by stating that the 19-year-old, who Gold believes is ‘highly-rated‘, could be set to leave Wigan this summer, as his current deal with the club expires at the end of the season.
However, with ‘plenty of interest’ in the centre-forward, with clubs such as Sheffield United, Celtic and Rangers all thought to also be keen on a move for the youngster, Gold reveals that Tottenham ‘will not enter a bidding war’ for the Scotland U19 international, if any interested party does indeed make a move this month.

Transfer Tavern Take
Considering the fact that Spurs have both Troy Parrott, who is currently on loan at Millwall, and Dane Scarlett, who has been highly impressing with his return of goals for both the club’s U18 and U21 sides this season, on their books, it would appear as if Tottenham are not in desperate need of another young striker at present.
However, it is difficult to argue that a return of six goal involvements from 12 games played in League One is not an eye-catching return, particularly for a player who is just 19-years-old.
And, considering that Parrott is still yet to score over his 11 appearances for Millwall, perhaps Joseph could be seen as a replacement for the Ireland international, should he not make the grade.
