Writing on Twitter, Alasdair Gold has shared a damning update regarding Tottenham’s first signing of the summer window – with promising midfielder Alfie Devine picking up a knock for the Under 18s.
Devine, who signed from Wigan Athletic back in mid-July, became Spurs’ first acquisition of a fruitful summer window, but chairman Daniel Levy and co have already suffered a blow regarding the youngster.

Devine suffers blow
Indeed, sharing a snap on his Instagram story, Devine was pictured in a leg cast whilst sharing his thoughts on the injury through emojis – with journalist Gold picking it up and relaying the news to supporters.

Described as a ‘top class‘ player by none other than Sky Sports pundit and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, Devine attracted praise for his performances in the Wigan youth set up before putting pen to paper on a move to Spurs.
The 16-year-old, however, now faces a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury for Tottenham’s U18s side, leaving Levy’s first signing of the summer out of action for the foreseeable future.
Gold, in reaction to the post, hopes it is ‘nothing too serious’, and judging by the teenager’s potential to feature in future seasons, Lilywhites supporters could be feeling the same way.
Transfer Tavern take
The England youth international has built up a reputation as one of the best midfield prodigies in the country right now, described as a box-to-box ace similar to the likes of Patrick Vieira and Steven Gerrard (Spurs Web).
He apparently brings bundles of energy to the middle, with Spurs now hoping that his latest setback won’t keep him off the pitch for long.
