Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Kevin Campbell of Sky Sports has been left excited by news out of Tottenham Hotspur involving defender Eric Dier.
The Lowdown: Dier on the mend?
As reported by journalist Dan Kilpatrick of The Evening Standard, a reliable Lilywhites source, one of manager Antonio Conte’s most important Spurs players this season could be set for a return against Man City this weekend.
Indeed, the reporter claims that Dier is ‘expected’ to be back for Spurs’ trip to Eastlands on Saturday afternoon as Conte’s men take on the Premier League champions and one of the best teams in Europe.
After losing back-to-back Premier League games to Southampton and Wolves respectively, Tottenham have seemingly missed the presence of both Oliver Skipp and Dier, with Campbell claiming the latter man’s return is ‘big’.

Speaking to FI, the former Arsenal striker insists that the Englishman’s comeback is ‘very important’ to manager Conte.
“Having him back will be a big boost,” he explained.
“I think Conte rates Dier very highly. He’s a top player and he’s looked really good in that three at the back system.
“They don’t look as accomplished at the back without him, that’s for sure. Him coming back may well be very important for Conte as he tries to get into that top four.”

Described as a player who has the potential to become ‘one of the best central defenders in the world‘ by Conte, Dier has come on leaps and bounds since the Italian’s arrival.
Thriving in his back-three system, the 28-year-old could feasibly be back in contention for an England call-up as the Three Lions’ 2022 World Cup campaign lingers – it’s not as if the other candidates for centre-back positions are in top form.
Tottenham supporters and Conte alike will be hoping Dier can help to steer the Lilywhites back on course for a top-four finish whilst playing his way into Gareth Southgate’s national team plans.
