According to a report by reliable Spurs correspondent Charlie Eccleshare, Arsenal striker and Premier League star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was in fact being ‘looked at’ and considered by Tottenham before chairman Daniel Levy opted not to go through with a move.
Aubameyang, who has gone on to star for the club’s rivals ever since a £56 million move from Borussia Dortmund back in January 2018, could have been a Spurs player if Levy followed through on his perceived interest, as per the Athletic.

As Tottenham scour the market for a capable back-up to Kane, being linked with the likes of Habib Diallo, Arkadiusz Milik and, recently, Patson Daka (football.london), Levy felt a past swoop for Aubameyang was too far out of the Lilywhites’ price range at the time – especially considering they already had an ‘elite‘ forward.
Fast forward to now, and one of Spurs’ top priorities for the window is signing an attacker to provide much-needed strength and depth in that area – potentially leaving critics to wonder what might have been if the club decided to invest in the Gabon international.
Hailed as ‘world class‘ by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, Aubameyang has been lighting up England’s top flight since signing for Arsenal – scoring 71 goals in 110 appearances (Transfermarkt).

Indeed, the £198,000-per-week ace has been somewhat of a revelation, and a player who was hailed for his ‘genius‘ movement by none other than Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho.
Given Spurs’ struggle to find a new forward to partner Kane so far, supporters may be wondering what might have been had Levy followed through on this past interest.
