AS Roma are ready to make Tottenham star Jan Vertonghen their first signing of the summer, according to Corriere dello Sport via @RickSpur.
Vertonghen’s contract is set to expire at the end of June, despite the fact he was a favourite of former boss Mauricio Pochettino, and he is reportedly considering his options.
The Belgian has been the centre of attention over the past few months and it appears he will end his eight-year-spell with Spurs in the transfer window.

While initial reports suggested he was interested in an offer from Real Betis, the Italian media claims Roma have made contact with Vertonghen’s representatives.
The 33-year-old is no longer a first-choice selection in Jose Mourinho’s starting lineup and the defender will be available as a free agent when his deal runs out.
Former Spurs director Franco Baldini is set to return to Rome and he has been in contact with his old club over a move for the veteran in the upcoming transfer window.
Corriere dello Sport have implied the Giallorossi will offer the Belgium international a three-year-contract worth €3M with added bonuses, per Sport Witness.
It is fair to say that Vertonghen has been a loyal servant of the club, but since he has failed to maintain his status as a regular starter alongside Toby Alderweireld, the board should allow him to leave at the earliest opportunity.
Indeed, Mourinho could use the remaining fixtures to play around with different combinations at the back, as he is keen to add to Spurs’ collection of silverware in the future.
