Writing for football.london, journalist Rob Guest has claimed that available Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa would be the ‘perfect’ match for Tottenham Hotspur – especially as news continues to come out over the club’s search for a Harry Kane alternative.
Most recently, fellow reliable reporters Fabrizio Romano and Alasdair Gold both confirmed that the Lilywhites are hunting for a new natural centre-forward – with Tottenham being linked to a steady handful of names.
Gold, in his column, claimed Bournemouth duo Callum Wilson and Joshua King were both high on Spurs’ wish list ahead of the 2020/2021 Premier League campaign – while forwards Chris Wood, Darwin Nunez and Ollie Watkins are possible options.

However, a past report from the Daily Star claims Tottenham could have also been ‘offered’ the chance to sign ex-Chelsea star Costa after he was put on the transfer list at Atletico.
As just one year remains on his current deal, the Spaniard could prove to be a cheaper option regardless of his age or salary demands – with reporter Guest now urging Daniel Levy and co to sign a forward who would be ‘perfect‘ behind Kane.
Valued at £13.4 million by Transfermarkt, Costa’s proven Premier League experience could be reason enough to consider a swoop – let alone the fact he has scored over half a century of goals in the English top flight.

Described as a ‘beast‘ by La Liga boss Diego Simeone, while his time at the Wanda Metropolitano may be up, Spurs could bag a bargain striking reinforcement with real pedigree.
