According to an update courtesy of Sky Sports, Everton could agree a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur target James Rodriguez imminently – potentially handing chairman Daniel Levy a transfer blow as the club continue their search for attacking talents who can bolster their 2020/2021 Champions League qualification chances.
Rodriguez, who has been linked with a move to Spurs recently, with the Lilywhites among a number of clubs monitoring his situation according to the Daily Mail, could be on the verge of joining Everton – with the £200,000-per-week ace reportedly close to a Premier League move.
Out of favour at Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane, the past few seasons have been a challenge for the Colombian – having failed to establish himself at the Bernabeu since his noteworthy 2014 World Cup accolades.

Winning a Golden Ball at that tournament, the now 29-year-old’s best season for the Galacticos arguably came half a decade ago during the 2014/2015 season – where he managed 13 goals and 13 assists in 29 La Liga starts (WhoScored).
Since then, whilst also going out on a two-year loan spell to Bayern Munich in that time, the attacking midfielder hasn’t quite reached those lofty heights – but a move to England could mean a shot at redemption.
Tottenham were previously touted with a move, especially considering their search for a creative outlet who can potentially emulate former hero Christian Eriksen, but now Levy and co may be in danger of missing out on their man as the Toffees close in.
